Fire Chief Michael Gamache of the Canterbury, NH Fire Department, is pleased to announce that the department has been awarded $75,986.97 to purchase new radio equipment that is needed.
“Much of our radio equipment is over 20 years old and has become unreliable,” said the department in a statement.
These funds, obtained through a comprehensive competitive grant application process, are made available by the United States Department of Homeland Security through the Assistance to Firefighters (AFG) Grant Program.
“The ability to effectively communicate on an emergency scene is paramount to the safety of the responders as well as the effectiveness of the operation as we work to save lives and property,” said Chief Gamache. “I am appreciative of all who have contributed to this effort, including department and town employees, the board of selectmen, our Congressional delegation in Washinton and the guidance of Greg Bavis from First Responder Grants, LLC.”
