With this solicitation, the Bureau of Justice Assistance seeks to support the families of fallen and catastrophically injured law enforcement officers, firefighters, and other first responders by providing assistance with filing applications for federal benefits for line-of-duty deaths and catastrophic injuries. This program also provides survivor peer support, counseling services, and resources to survivors of fallen law enforcement officers, firefighters, and other first responders nationwide. Additionally, the program recognizes families and fallen officers at memorial events.

South Dakota gives grants to volunteer fire departments

Gov. Kristi Noem signed HB1127 during the 2023 legislative session approving a new grant program to support local volunteer fire departments purchase $5.0 million of personal protective equipment.

Rhode Island Delegation Delivers $464k for Local Firefighters

In an effort to ensure Rhode Island firefighters have the tools, training, and equipment they need to safely and effectively respond to emergencies throughout their communities, U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse and Congressmen Seth Magaziner and Gabe Amo today announced $463,948 in federal funding for fire departments in East Greenwich, Middletown, Lincoln, and Providence.

Kentucky: AG launches $15 million grant program for law enforcement body armor

Earlier this year, Kentucky’s General Assembly created the Body Armor Grant Program and provided funding for two years. These grants will support law enforcement and first responders in purchasing body armor, duty weapons, ammunition, electronic control devices and body-worn cameras.

Moore Foundation Grants $29,300 to Prophetstown Fire & Ambulance

The Prophetstown Fire Protection District Board of Trustees meeting on Monday, July 8 opened with a moment of silence for retired firefighter William “Junior” Jacobs, who passed away on July 4.

Virginia School Security Grants

The Virginia Public School Authority (VPSA) issued $12 million in equipment notes in conjunction with the existing Virginia Public School Authority technology notes program. Proceeds of these additional notes will be used to help offset related local costs associated with the purchasing of qualifying security equipment to improve and help ensure the safety of students attending public schools in Virginia.

Hornell Police Department receives state funds for new equipment

the Hornell Police Department recently found out that it was awarded $188,647 in grant funds from New York State. The state gives these tax funds to law enforcement agencies to support technological improvements and investments, and agencies must apply for these grants to receive them.

North Carolina: Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office recieves $40,000 grant

Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden said the funds will go toward a new resource center.

4 local fire departments to receive more than $250,000 in grants

Senator Joe Manchin announced more than $400,000 in funding for five West Virginia fire departments

$12 million in grants awarded to 17 Connecticut towns and cities to improve infrastructure

The grants are being awarded through CTDOT’s Community Connectivity Grant Program which uses state funds to support local infrastructure improvement. This is the program’s sixth round of awards.
