Oklahoma counties to receive sheriff office assistance grants

All 77 counties in Oklahoma are set to receive sheriff’s office assistance grants through the Attorney General’s Office. According to a press release, House Bill 2914 created the Oklahoma Sheriff’s Office Funding Assistance Grant Program and appropriated $18 million to the fund. Counties were invited to apply for grants from $150,000 to $300,000, depending on their total property valuation.

Justice Department Announces More Than $690 Million in Violence Against Women Act Funding

the Justice Department announced the awards of over $690 million in grant funding administered by the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW). This funding will support services and justice responses for victims and survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking across all U.S. states and territories and in many Tribal nations.

“The need for a drone really came into focus three or four years ago,” Glass said at the meeting. “We had someone called and a loved one was missing, they were in the woods and we really realized that what takes our police officers, our firefighters hours to recover through the thickest woods, the beaches — can be 5-10 minutes with a drone.”

Over $5.2 Million in DOJ Grants Awarded to Support Law Enforcement and Education in West Virginia

Key recipients of the grants include:

Hancock County Sheriff’s Office: Funding for equipment upgrades aimed at boosting community safety.
Wetzel County Sheriff’s Office: Funds allocated for the purchase of new police cruisers.
Marion County Sheriff’s Office: Support for the Smart Community Project, which integrates technology to enhance police cruisers, equipment, and investigative tools.
West Virginia Wesleyan College: Establishing a Center for Ethical Professional Development in Criminal Justice.
Fairmont State University: Enhancing security on campus through upgrades and increased measures.
West Virginia Potomac State College: Funding for updated security enhancements on campus.
Justice and Community Services in Charleston: Support for rape crisis centers and nonprofit organizations that address sexual assault and domestic violence statewide.

Southern District of Georgia Receives Over $6 Million in Federal Grants to Boost Public Safety and Law Enforcement

“Glynn County stands to benefit from a substantial $3.7 million grant. This infusion of funding is slated for the overhaul of radio communications systems, a vital asset for a range of agencies, including the Glynn County Police Department, Glynn County Sheriff’s Office, GB911, Brunswick Police Department, and Glynn County Emergency Management Agency. These improvements will enhance coordination and response across the county’s mainland and barrier island communities.”
