Merski, Harkins: $127,000 secured for Erie Police Department

Harkins said, “The Crisis Car unit plays a crucial role in connecting individuals with the support and resources they need, and this investment underscores our commitment to improving public safety and mental health services in Erie.”

‘Making roads safer’: $98K state grant will fund Salinas police traffic safety initiatives

The grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety will support education, DUI checkpoints, officer certification programs and various safety enforcement operations to try to reduce serious injuries and deaths on roads. The grant will fund programs through September 2025, according to a press release from the police department.

Fort Worth police receive $2 million grant to reduce DNA testing backlog

The funding is expected to expedite processes and enhance collaboration with forensic labs, according to Fort Worth Police Chief Neil Noakes.

More than $225 million allocated to support rural law enforcement

The law appropriated $330 million for the program in the 2024-2025 biennium. In fiscal 2024, which ended Aug. 31, the Texas Comptroller’s Office awarded $125.7 million to 502 grant recipients. In fiscal 2025, it awarded $98.4 million to 396 grant recipients.
