Yes, professional grant training costs money… but how much?
Grant consultants like us offer professional-level grant training to public safety pros like you. Whether online and in-person, agencies can attend grant training that can help them unlock thousands, sometimes millions, of dollars of grant funding.
But training like that often has a price tag. Ours certainly does. So… is public safety grant training expensive? We ran the numbers, so you can decide for yourself.
What our training costs + what you get for it
Here’s the cost for our grant-writing training:
- Online (live training with instructor via Zoom): $499 per student
- In-person (live training with instruction at a location around the country) $499 per student, plus travel costs
Naturally, the travel costs vary depending on your circumstances. Some students might be driving across town. Others might fly in from across the country.
When people attend our training, here’s what they get for their fee:
- Training that is ONLY about public safety grants
- Examples of winning grants across Law Enforcement, the Fire Service, EMS, and more
- Specific real-world grant programs that they can apply for, from a range of public, private, corporate, and nonprofit sources
- Access to instructors who are trained not only in grant writing, but who have public safety backgrounds
- 2 days of real-world, experience-backed training that you can be ready to deploy as soon as you finish
Personally, we think that’s pretty good for just under five hundred bucks. And we have deliberately maintained this price for years. Since 2004, hundreds of our students have gone on to win billions of dollars worth of grant funding, helping them procure training, personnel, equipment, and more that their agency couldn’t afford otherwise.
We ran the numbers on what other grant training costs
While we’re pretty confident in our ability to help folks learn the ins and outs of public safety grants, we certainly aren’t the only game in town.
So when it comes to what professional-level public safety grant training costs, we ran the numbers to see how our price compares with others in the field:
- Applying for Federal Financial Assistance (Grants & Cooperative Agreements), 2 days, $979-$1003.48 per student
- Grant Readiness Workshop, 1 day, $809-$829.23 per student
- Grant Writing Certification Course, $2,149-$2,599 per student
- Grant Writing for Government Grants Online Course, $499 per student
- The Grantsmanship Center’s Essential Grant Skills, In-Person Workshop, $1,195 per student
- Grant Writing Workshop, 2 Days, $495 per student
What can pro grant training help you get in return for the cost?
Since 2004, we’ve trained public safety agencies around the country to write winning grants. Here are a few examples of agencies who’ve won grant awards:
- Over $1,000,000 of AFG fire grants, City of Northwood FD, Ohio
- $10,000 for 35 tactical trauma medical kits, Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan
- $283,450 for 27 sets of TOG and 32 air packs, Bath FD, New York
- Over $1,000,000 in grants, Yuma Police Department, Arizona
- $450,000, new pumper, New York State Fire Academy
- $150,000, Vehicle Acquisition grant to replace our worn-out brush truck, MMP&W Volunteer Fire Company, Pennsylvania
- $15,580 for replacement fire hose, Randolph Maine Fire Department
- $7,600,000 for staffing, Waterford Township Fire Department, Michigan
- $10,000 for communications upgrades, Edinburg FD, Ohio
- $1,250,000 to hire 10 new law enforcement officers, Fort Wayne Police Department, Indiana
Pro grant training is an investment in your agency’s present and future critical needs
We get it: Budgets are tight, and it can be hard to justify spending at least $499 so you or someone else at your agency can get grant-writing training.
However, when you look at professional grant training as an investment in your agency’s present and future critical needs, that picture can become a lot clearer.
Yes, pro-level public safety grant training has a cost. But if it helps you and your agency get the equipment, training, personnel, and more that you need, could it turn out that the cost is worthwhile?
We’ll leave it up to you to decide.
