Grant Application Process for Gun Violence Intervention Programs opens in January 2025
The Michigan State Police (MSP) Grants and Community Services Division (GCSD) will begin accepting grant applications Jan. 6, 2025, as part of the Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program (Byrne SCIP).
Byrne SCIP furthers the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance mission of achieving safer communities by assisting state, local and tribal efforts to prevent or reduce crime and violence, particularly gun violence.
Applications must be from units of government in partnership with community-based organizations. Funding is to be used for the implementation of violence intervention programs and related education, particularly focusing on reducing gun violence in Michigan.
Noteworthy dates
- Dec. 4, 2024 – Pre-application informational webinar
- Jan. 6, 2025 – Grant application process begins
- Feb. 14, 2025 – Submissions due on or before 12 p.m. EST
- April 1, 2025 – Grant period begins; runs through Dec. 31, 2026
