Duke Energy supports fellow first responder agencies with grants for emergency preparedness
The funding, which totals nearly $215,000 for organizations across the state, will help public safety agencies increase their response capabilities during severe weather and other emergencies through advanced preparation, planning, equipment and training. Among the grant recipients is Hamilton County EMA, which received $11,000 to purchase voltage detectors, portable impact drills and bit kits to assist with the proper establishment of electrical grounding, and to stock a community outreach trailer.
Heroes Wildlife Adventures Receives $5,000 Grant from Homes for Heroes Foundation
The Homes for Heroes Foundation awarded Heroes Wildlife Adventures a $5,000 grant to support an expansion of their programs. These programs assist first responders, military members and healthcare professionals by providing emergency financial needs such as covering utility bills, home and auto repairs.
St. Johns county receives over $11 million in funding ot enhance public safety, community services
The $7.1 million from the FEMA Staffing for Adequate Emergency Response (SAFER) Grants Program will mean 21 additional firefighters can be hired. It will cover the total cost of salary and benefits for three years. St. Johns County Fire Rescue was also awarded the Technical Assistance Grant from the U.S. Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration for $50,489. This grant will be used to purchase a natural gas pipeline fire training simulator.
Homeland Security grants approved for Farmington police and fire departments
Farmington Police Department received $18,000 while Farmington Fire Rescue was awarded $16,433.
