Law Enforcement microgrants
Advance crime fighting, community engagement, problem solving, or organizational changes in support of community policing
The FY25 Community Policing Development (CPD) Microgrants program provides funding to local, state, tribal, and territorial law enforcement agencies to implement novel or innovative projects that work to solve problems in the agency or community, to advance crime fighting, community engagement, problem solving, or organizational changes in support of community policing.
Under this funding opportunity, the COPS Office will fund projects in the following subcategories:
- Uplifting the Image of the Law Enforcement Profession
- Violent Crime Prevention
- Officer Recruitment, Hiring and Retention
- Immigration and Border Security
- Opioid and Drug Market Interruption
- Homelessness and Squatting
- Open Topic Area
What this grant does for your agency
There is approximately $8.8 million in funding for multiple awards available through the FY25 CPD Microgrant program. Each award is two years (24 months) in length. There is no local match.
Only a limited number of grants will be awarded.
Grant Eligibility

- Local Law Enforcement Agencies
- State Law Enforcement Agencies
- Tribal Law Enforcement Agencies
- Territorial Law Enforcement Agencies
State and local governmental entities must comply with 8 U.S.C. §1373, which provides that State and local government entities may not prohibit, or in any way restrict, any government entity or official from sending to, receiving from, maintaining, or exchanging information regarding citizenship or immigration status, lawful or unlawful, of any individual with components of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security or any other federal, state or local government entity. This includes any prohibitions or restrictions imposed or established by a State or local government entity or official.
