2022 AFG fire grants won’t be announced anytime soon
Here are some important things to keep in mind:
FY 2022 AFG AWARDS won’t be announced until sometime in 2023.
Why is that?
Pretty simple: FY 2022 AFG hasn’t opened for applications yet (as of August, 11 2022). FEMA is expected to AFG for applications as early as October 2022, but we are still waiting for firm dates.
Need to prepare for AFG’s next application round?
AFG is one of the country’s most competitive grants. The nationwide program offered over $414 million in total funding for FY 2021, with awards ranging from a few thousand dollars to hundreds of thousands. Departments big and small from all over the country apply.

AFG grant awards being announced now
All that said, there are AFG fire grants being announced now!
However, those awards are for FY 2021, not FY 2022.
FEMA announced Round 1 winners at the end of July 2022. More awards typically come out weekly on Fridays, until all awards have been decided and announced.

When will all FY 2021 AFG fire grants be announced?
Typically FEMA announces all awards by Sept. 30, so that funds are allocated before the end of the fiscal year. We expect all FY 2021 award announcements to be made by Sept. 30, 2022.
