As reported in Colebrook, New Hampshire’s The News and Sentinel, Chief Bradley Eldridge said the grant will replace extrication equipment from the 1970s. EFD will be able to procure and put into service “a new, battery-operated Jaws of Life combination tool.”
In addition to the extrication equipment, EFD will also enhance their incident gear. EFD will add a new air bag system, complete with struts and jacks, for stabilizing or lifting walls, crashed vehicles, or other unstable areas in an incident.
“The department received the grant thanks to the work of Deputy Chief Tom Freedman and firefighter Sara Dionne,” reports The News and Sentinel. “‘Sara took a class in Gorham in November presented by First Responder Grants, LLC and brought back a wealth of information on the writing of the grants. We’ve put in for grants in the past, but the information from the class was very useful and the key to successfully receiving this grant.’”
