Only 3 BWC Demonstration Project grants were awarded
Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice organizations nationwide know that footage from Body-Worn Cameras (BWCs) can be crucial to prosecutorial success. While the Mercer Co NJ Prosecutors Office (MCPO) in Trenton, NJ, had rolled out an initial BWC program, they now needed to procure more BWCs, but needed additional resources to do so.
Working with a First Responder Grants consultant, MCPO crafted a compelling grant application that made their case for why MCPO needed funds for additional BWCs. Now, under the BJA FY 2022 Body-worn Camera Policy and Implementation Program to Support Law Enforcement Agencies, MCPO has received a $285,583 body-worn camera grant that funds the following:
- 16 BWCs
- Creation of a BWC Wins Program (BWC-WP)
- 3 SMART Boards for training programs
- Hiring a project director
Congratulations to MCPO for winning this much-needed grant!
