Glendale Fire granted $2.3M for upgrades
The 2024 Assistance to Firefighters Grant was awarded to nine agencies throughout the West Valley to help with each’s ability to “fund critically needed resources to equip and train emergency personnel, enhance efficiencies and support community resilience,” said the official grant page from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
Cortland may get $2.2 million ladder for $250,000
The city of Cortland has received preliminary notice that it has won a $1 million grant to defray the cost of a $2.2 million aerial ladder for its fire department, even as it seeks another $1 million
National Firefighter Registry Reauthorization Passes Senate, Headed to President’s Desk to Become Law
The Firefighter Cancer Registry Reauthorization Act will reauthorize the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health’s (NIOSH) National Firefighter Registry (NFR) for Cancer. The purpose of the NFR is to help understand and reduce cancer risk among firefighters. The bill extends the NFR’s reauthorization through fiscal year 2028 and raises the authorization level from $2.5 million to $5.5 million per year.
New equipment coming to South Charleston Fire Department
CSX is providing the South Charleston Fire Department with a Pride in Service grant in the amount of $5,000 for hazmat detection equipment.
San Manuel Band of Mission Indians to give $1 million in grants
In celebration of Giving Tuesday on Dec. 3, the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians is excited to announce $1 million in grants to support recovery, conservation, and wildfire prevention efforts in the communities threatened by recent wildfires. The grants, aimed at helping restore and protect vital ecosystems, provide critical resources to local organizations and agencies working on the front lines of recovery, environmental protection, and community safety.
