$8,657,476 in Fire Grants Awarded in Round 20 AFG 2013

Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG)The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced the twentieth award round for the FY2013 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) fire grants program.

FEMA awarded $8,657,476 to 81 Fire Service organizations throughout the US. Awards included:

  • $1,653, Operations and Safety, Equipment ($1,740), Concord Fire & Rescue, Concord, VT
  • $47,060, Operations and Safety, Personal Protective Equipment ($49,036), King Cove Fire & Rescue, King Cove, AK
  • $71,250, Vehicle Acquisition, Vehicle Acquisition ($75,000), Spencer Township Fire/Rescue, Holland, OH
  • $121,578, Operations and Safety, Equipment ($125,080), North County Fire Protection District, Castroville, CA
  • $261,393, Vehicle Acquisition, Vehicle Acquisition ($275,000), Madill Fire Department, Madill, OK
  • $382,500, State Fire Training Academy, Vehicle Acquisition ($450,000), NYS DHSES OFPC Academy of Fire Science, Montour Falls, NY
  • $720,726, Operations and Safety, Equipment ($800,806), Panama City Beach Fire Rescue, Panama City Beach, FL

Round 20 award allocations:

  • Operations & Safety: 75 awards, $7,390,691
  • Vehicles: 5 awards, $884,285
  • State Fire Training Academy: 1 awards, $382,500

Total FY2013 appropriations are $280,163,233: $201,717,528 for Operations & Safety fire grants, $70,040,808 for Vehicle fire grants, and $8,404,897 for State Fire Training Academy fire grants.

To-date, 2,042 fire grants totaling $207,478,935 have been awarded:

  • Operations & Safety: 1,792 awards, $207,478,935
  • Vehicles: 219 awards, $52,967,009
  • State Fire Training Academy: 31 awards, $8,526,166

Estimated remaining funds are:

  • Operations & Safety: $477,279 (
  • Vehicles: $19,240,010 (27%)
  • State Fire Training Academy: $138,676 (2%)

With an average of 102 awards per round, the average award amount is:

  • Operations & Safety: $115,781
  • Vehicles: $241,858
  • State Fire Training Academy: $275,038
