$2,328,625 in Fire Grants Awarded in Round 21 AFG 2013

Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG)The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced the twenty-first award round for the FY2013 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) fire grants program.

FEMA awarded $2,328,625 to 33 Fire Service organizations throughout the US. Awards included:

  • $4,617, Operations and Safety, Training, Castalia Community Fire Service, Castalia, IA
  • $19,784, Operations and Safety, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Caroga Lake Volunteer Fire Company, Caroga Lake, NY
  • $61,200, Operations and Safety, Wellness and Fitness Programs, Santa Fe Fire Department, Santa Fe, NM
  • $97,850, Vehicle Acquisition, Vehicle Acquisition, Warner Volunteer Fire Department, Warner, OK
  • $114,000, Operations and Safety, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Horton Township Volunteer Fire Department, Ridgway, PA
  • $142,479, Operations and Safety, Equipment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Clarkston Fire and Rescue, Clarkston, UT
  • $347,061, Operations and Safety, Training, Santa Rosa Fire Department, Santa Rosa, CA

Round 21 award allocations:

  • Operations & Safety: 32 awards, $2,230,775
  • Vehicles: 1 award, $97,850
  • State Fire Training Academy: 0 awards, $0

Total FY2013 appropriations are $280,163,233: $201,717,528 for Operations & Safety fire grants, $70,040,808 for Vehicle fire grants, and $8,404,897 for State Fire Training Academy fire grants.

To-date, 2,075 fire grants totaling $271,300,735 have been awarded:

  • Operations & Safety: 1,824 awards, $209,709,710
  • Vehicles: 220 awards, $53,064,859
  • State Fire Training Academy: 31 awards, $8,526,166

Estimated remaining funds are:

  • Operations & Safety: $0 ($1,753,496 from vehicles)
  • Vehicles: $17,388,664 (24%)
  • State Fire Training Academy: $138,676 (2%)

With an average of 99 awards per round, the average award amount is:

  • Operations & Safety: $114,972
  • Vehicles: $241,204
  • State Fire Training Academy: $275,038
