The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced the sixteenth award round for the FY2013 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) fire grants program.
FEMA awarded $16,117,356 to 113 Fire Service organizations throughout the US. Awards included:
- $2,138, Operations and Safety, Training, Pipestem Volunteer Fire Department, Pipestem, WV
- $39,113, Operations and Safety, Equipment, Rio Vista Volunteer Fire Department, Rio Vista, TX
- $96,498, Operations and Safety, EMS Equipment, Mount Laurel Township Emergency Medical Services, Mount Laurel, NJ
- $123,500, Vehicle Acquisition, Joanna Volunteer Fire Department, Joanna, SC
- $692,991, Operations and Safety, Modify Facilities and Training, Warwick Fire Department, Warwick, RI
- $1,700,595, Operations and Safety, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Parma Rural Fire Protection District, Parma, ID
Round 16 award allocations:
- Operations & Safety: 100 awards, $12,852,747
- Vehicles: 13 awards, $3,264,609
- State Fire Training Academy: 0 awards, $0
Total FY2013 appropriations are $280,163,233: $201,717,528 for Operations & Safety fire grants, $70,040,808 for Vehicle fire grants, and $8,404,897 for State Fire Training Academy fire grants.
To-date, 1,752 fire grants totaling $235,592,103 have been awarded:
- Operations & Safety: 1,534 awards, $180,225,074
- Vehicles: 191 awards, $48,269,539
- State Fire Training Academy: 27 awards, $7,097,490
Estimated remaining funds are:
- Operations & Safety: $27,731,140 (13%)
- Vehicles: $23,937,480 (33%)
- State Fire Training Academy: $1,567,352 (18%)
With an average of 110 awards per round, the average award amount is:
- Operations & Safety: $117,487
- Vehicles: $252,720
- State Fire Training Academy: $262,870
