The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced the forty-fifth award round for the FY2012 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFGP).
FEMA awarded 8 Operations and Safety Fire grants, totaling $243,447, to departments and organizations around the country. Award amounts ranged from a $5,035 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) grant, awarded to the Edinburg Volunteer Fire Department, Carthage, MS, to a $91,139 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) grant, awarded to the Henlawson VFD, Henlawson, WV.
To-date 2,487 fire grants totaling $281,783,176 have been awarded, with 2,386 awards for $250,870,377 for Operations and Safety Grants, and 101 awards for $30,912,799 for Vehicle Acquisition Grants. The average award size has been $105,143 for Operations and Safety, and $306,067 for Vehicle Acquisition. The total appropriation for FY2012 AFG is $285,625,000, with $214,218,750 allocated for Operations and Safety Grants, and $71,406,250 allocated for Vehicle Acquisition Grants.
