$32,980,255 in Fire Grants Awarded in Round 12 AFG 2013

Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG)The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced the twelfth award round for the FY2013 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) fire grants program.

FEMA awarded $32,980,255 to 219 Fire Service organizations throughout the US. Awards ranged from a $3,779 Operations and Safety Training Grant, awarded to the Menlo Fire and Rescue, Menlo, IA, to a $914,501 Operations and Safety Equipment Fire Grant, awarded to the McCords Volunteer Fire Dept., Centre, AL.

Round 12 award allocations:

  • Operations & Safety: 162 awards, $20,563,673
  • Vehicles: 54 awards, $11,786,944
  • State Fire Training Academy: 3 awards, $629,638

Total FY2013 appropriations are $280,163,233: $201,717,528 for Operations & Safety fire grants, $70,040,808 for Vehicle fire grants, and $8,404,897 for State Fire Training Academy fire grants.

To-date, 1,244 fire grants totaling $163,507,514 have been awarded:

  • Operations & Safety: 1,090 awards, $127,675,387
  • Vehicles: 135 awards, $30,963,681
  • State Fire Training Academy: 19 awards, $4,868,446

Estimated remaining funds are:

  • Operations & Safety: $80,280,827 (39%)
  • Vehicles: $41,243,338 (57%)
  • State Fire Training Academy: $3,796,396 (44%)

With 104 average awards per round, the average award is:

  • Operations & Safety: $117,133
  • Vehicles: $229,361
  • State Fire Training Academy: $256,234
