$8,063,951 in Fire Grants Awarded in Round 19 AFG 2013

Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG)The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced the nineteenth award round for the FY2013 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) fire grants program.

FEMA awarded $8,063,951 to 75 Fire Service organizations throughout the US. Awards included:

  • $4,090, Operations and Safety, Equipment, Beaver Township Fire Department, North Lima, OH
  • $16,010, Operations and Safety, Equipment, Whatcom County Fire District #17, Ferndale, WA
  • $22,107, Operations and Safety, Wellness and Fitness Programs, Grand Haven Department of Public Safety, Grand Haven, MI
  • $42,750, Operations and Safety, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Burnt Chimney Volunter Fire Department, Wirtz, VA
  • $61,275, Operations and Safety, Equipment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Monroe Fire Dept., Monroe, ME
  • $95,000, Vehicle Acquisition, Jefferson County Fire District #7, Ozawkie, KS
  • $142,500, Vehicle Acquisition, Clark County Ambulance, Clark, SD
  • $262,675, Vehicle Acquisition, Riverton Fire and Rescue, Riverton, IA
  • $421,935, Operations and Safety, Training, City of Tacoma Fire Department, Tacoma, WA
  • $633,033, Operations and Safety, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), City of Yuma Fire Department, Yuma, AZ

Round 19 award allocations:

  • Operations & Safety: 69 awards, $7,070,481
  • Vehicles: 6 awards, $993,470
  • State Fire Training Academy: 0 awards, $0

Total FY2013 appropriations are $280,163,233: $201,717,528 for Operations & Safety fire grants, $70,040,808 for Vehicle fire grants, and $8,404,897 for State Fire Training Academy fire grants.

To-date, 1,961 fire grants totaling $260,314,634 have been awarded:

  • Operations & Safety: 1,717 awards, $200,088,244
  • Vehicles: 214 awards, $52,082,724
  • State Fire Training Academy: 30 awards, $8,143,666

Estimated remaining funds are:

  • Operations & Safety: $7,867,970 (4%)
  • Vehicles: $20,124,295 (28%)
  • State Fire Training Academy: $521,176 (6%)

With an average of 103 awards per round, the average award amount is:

  • Operations & Safety: $116,534
  • Vehicles: $243,377
  • State Fire Training Academy: $271,456
