For our Fire/EMS folks, please read on for a big update we just received about FEMA GO, FY 2024 AFG grant awards, and the FY 2025 grant application period.
As you can imagine, the situation remains fluid, but the details below are accurate to the best of our knowledge right now:
FY 2024 AFG Awards
All departments that are going to be awarded for the FY 2024 AFG have been awarded.
The awards came out on September 24, 25, and 26. No turndown notices have gone out yet and will not until the government shutdown is over. If an applicant agency did not get an award notice, expect to receive a turndown letter.
The AFG website that shows departments that have been awarded has not been updated and will not be updated until after the shutdown is over.
We expect the awards list to be updated after the shutdown is over.
FEMA GO portal currently inactive
The FEMA GO portal is not up and running due to the shutdown.
Any acceptance of an award, payments, and/or amendments cannot be completed at this time until the shutdown is over and FEMA staff can return to work.
FY 2025 AFG Application Period
The FY 2025 AFG application period will most likely not open until after January 1, 2026.
We can’t control when the application period will begin. However, if you want to apply for FY 2025 AFG, you can control getting started on your grant now.
Whether you’ve already started or have yet to, now is the time to identify your agency’s needs. The FY 2024 AFG NOFO, available at FEMA.gov, is not necessarily an indicator of FY 2025 parameters, but at the least it can help you start preparing your grant and priorities.
