FY 2023 AFG Notice of Funding – NOW AVAILABLE!
The Notice of Funding Opportunity, available at AFG Grant Documents | FEMA.gov, formally announces the availability of $324 million to potential applicants. It also includes pertinent program information such as important dates in the application and grant timeline, program requirements, performance measures, funding eligibility and more.
FY 2023 AFG Grant Application Period – Opens Jan. 29
The FY 2023 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Application period opens Jan. 29, 2024 at 8 a.m. ET and closes Mar. 8, 2024 at 5 p.m. ET. Plan your FY 2023 AFG application by reviewing the FY 2023 AFG NOFO today at AFG Grant Documents | FEMA.gov.
Application Portal
The online AFG grant application is available through the AFG FEMA GO (FEMA Grants Outcomes) application portal at https://go.fema.gov.
All users must have their own FEMA GO account. Each account is specific to the authorized user and must not be shared with other personnel. A FEMA GO Account Creation User Guide can be viewed on the SAFER Program website or downloaded to your computer.

FEMA GO will only support the most recent major release of the following browsers:

- Internet Explorer;
- Mozilla Firefox;
- Apple Safari; and
- Microsoft Edge.
Users who attempt to use tablet type devices or other browsers may encounter issues with using FEMA GO.
SAM.gov Registration Required
All eligible applicants must be registered and active in the System for Award Management (SAM) before you can start an application. To register or validate your SAM.gov information, visit https://www.sam.gov/SAM/. Please see page 15 of the FY 2023 AFG NOFO for more information.
FY 2023 AFG Application Development Workshops
Through Feb. 9
The fiscal year (FY) 2023 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) application development workshops are intended to provide the latest AFG program updates and tips to assist applicants in developing their narrative for the upcoming application period. Each session will run approximately one hour. Attendees can ask questions and network with FEMA Grant Specialists, and other AFG applicants.
