ATTN: Fire and EMS agencies who have FY2015 AFG grant applications submitted!

Big news is afoot for FY2015 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) applicants! The AFG program is on an accelerated pace right now, says Senior Grants Consultant Kurt Bradley of First Responder Grants.

This is usually one of the first indications of pending awards starting to appear in an applicant’s files. Requests to “Update 1199a” (the direct deposit form) have started to show up in some clients’s files.

“That means that awards will be starting, most likely, in late April,” says Bradley. “While reviewing files of our clients we noticed quite a few of the clients had warnings posted to ‘update your profile.’ This is not to be taken lightly. Be certain that your online profile with the FEMA portal is up-to-date and current right now, as they must be certain that their emails regarding your grant application are in fact being read and reacted to.”

Bradley also recommends that your SAM.gov registration file has been updated and is current, as outdated or incorrect information can be a reason to delay or deny your award.

“Don’t wait for AFG to tell you it needs to be updated,” says Bradley. “Do it yourself so your award is not delayed.”
