The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced the eighth award round for the FY2013 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) fire grants program.
FEMA awarded $19,010,469 to 157 Fire Service organizations throughout the US. Awards ranged from a $2,092 Operations and Safety Equipment Fire Grant, awarded to the City of Nicholls Volunteer Fire Department, Nicholls, GA, to a $705,645 Equipment Fire Grant, awarded to the Orange Village Fire Department, Orange Village, OH.
Round 8 award allocations:
- Operations & Safety: 141 awards, $15,033,081
- Vehicles: 14 awards, $3,223,863
- State Fire Training Academy: 2 awards, $753,525
Total FY2013 appropriations are $280,163,233: $201,717,528 for Operations & Safety fire grants, $70,040,808 for Vehicle fire grants, and $8,404,897 for State Fire Training Academy fire grants.
To-date, 615 fire grants totaling $63,106,850 have been awarded:
- Operations & Safety: 567 awards, $52,198,499
- Vehicles: 40 awards, $9,091,352
- State Fire Training Academy: 8 awards, $1,816,999

- Operations & Safety: $149,519,029
- Vehicles: $60,949,456
- State Fire Training Academy: $6,587,898

- Operations & Safety: $92,061
- Vehicles: $227,284
