$6,503,342 in Fire Grants Awarded in Round 23 AFG 2013

Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG)The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced the twenty-third award round for the FY2013 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) fire grants program.

FEMA awarded $6,503,342 to 13 Fire Service organizations throughout the US. Awards included:

  • $32,400, Training, Operations and Safety, Santa Monica Fire Department, Santa Monica, CA
  • $44,460, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Operations and Safety, Coalmont Fire Department, Coalmont, TN
  • $46,170, Equipment, Operations and Safety, Pleasant Valley Fire Department, Young, AZ
  • $59,580, Equipment, Operations and Safety, Hammond Fire Department, Hammond, LA
  • $75,644, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Operations and Safety, Leesburg Volunteer Company / Maurice River Twp Fire District 1, Leesburg, NJ

Round 23 award allocations:

  • Operations & Safety: 68 awards, $10,096,042
  • Vehicles: 2 awards, $436,996
  • State Fire Training Academy: 2 awards, $310,450

Total FY2013 appropriations are $280,163,233: $201,717,528 for Operations & Safety fire grants, $70,040,808 for Vehicle fire grants, and $8,404,897 for State Fire Training Academy fire grants.

To-date, 2,147 fire grants totaling $282,144,223 have been awarded:

  • Operations & Safety: 1,892 awards, $219,805,752
  • Vehicles: 222 awards, $53,501,855
  • State Fire Training Academy: 33 awards, $8,836,616

Estimated remaining funds are:

  • Operations & Safety: $0 ($11,849,538 from vehicles)
  • Vehicles: $7,120,848 (10%)
  • State Fire Training Academy: $0 ($171,774 from vehicles)

With an average of 93 awards per round, the average award amount is:

  • Operations & Safety: $116,176
  • Vehicles: $240,999
  • State Fire Training Academy: $267,776
