$8,902,389 in Fire Grants Awarded in Round 7 AFG 2013

Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG)The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced the seventh award round for the FY2013 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) fire grants program.

FEMA awarded $8,902,389 to 59 Fire Service organizations throughout the US. Awards ranged from a $2,850 Operations and Safety Equipment Fire Grant, awarded to the Blumfield Township Fire Department, Saginaw, MI, to a $2,365,920 Operations and Safety Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Fire Grant, awarded to the Honolulu Fire Department, Honolulu, HI.

Round 7 award allocations:

  • Operations & Safety: 53 awards, $7,536,811
  • Vehicles: 6 awards, $1,365,578
  • State Fire Training Academy: 0 awards, $0

Total FY2013 appropriations are $280,163,233: $201,717,528 for Operations & Safety fire grants, $70,040,808 for Vehicle fire grants, and $8,404,897 for State Fire Training Academy fire grants.

To-date, 458 fire grants totaling $44,096,381 have been awarded:

  • Operations & Safety: 426 awards, $37,165,418
  • Vehicles: 26 award, $5,867,489
  • State Fire Training Academy: 6 awards, $1,063,474

Estimated remaining funds are:

  • Operations & Safety: $164,552,110
  • Vehicles: $64,173,319
  • State Fire Training Academy: $7,341,423

The average award is:

  • Operations & Safety: $87,243
  • Vehicles: $225,673
  • State Fire Training Academy: $177,246
