The application period for the FY2016 Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) fire grant opens Mon., Jan. 9, 2017.
It’s time to get ready to apply… but before you do, First Responder Grants Senior Grant Consultant Kurt Bradley has some advice:
“Everybody needs to read the NOFO this year PRIOR to even beginning to think about doing a SAFER grant. There are MAJOR changes to this year’s program, and they will seriously influence your decision to apply or not.”
Some of the changes include:
- No rehires this year
- 25% matching requirement for year 1
- 65% matching requirement for years 2 and 3
- Only 75% max of usual starting salary and benefits cap is now in place
“This is no joke folks,” says Bradley. “Read carefully before you decide to apply.”
The SAFER application deadline is Friday, February 10, 2017 at 5 PM ET.
