The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced the fifteenth award round for the FY2013 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) fire grants program.
FEMA awarded $22,443,483 to 148 Fire Service organizations throughout the US. Awards included:
- $3,031, Operations and Safety, Equipment, Frankford Volunteer Fire Department, Frankford, WV
- $21,051, Operations and Safety, Training, Philadelphia Fire Department, Philadelphia, PA
- $45,600, Operations and Safety, Modify Facilities, Massena Volunteer Rescue Squad, Massena, NY
- $110,498, Operations and Safety, EMS Equipment, Hopkinsville Christian County Ambulance, Hopkinsville, KY
- $277,092, Vehicle Acquisition, Leadwood Fire Protection District, Leadwood, MO
- $1,618,469, Operations and Safety, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), City of Ontario Fire Department, Ontario, CA
Round 15 award allocations:
- Operations & Safety: 129 awards, $15,978,671
- Vehicles: 14 awards, $5,100,439
- State Fire Training Academy: 5 awards, $1,364,373
Total FY2013 appropriations are $280,163,233: $201,717,528 for Operations & Safety fire grants, $70,040,808 for Vehicle fire grants, and $8,404,897 for State Fire Training Academy fire grants.
To-date, 1,639 fire grants totaling $219,474,747 have been awarded:
- Operations & Safety: 1,434 awards, $167,372,327
- Vehicles: 178 awards, $45,004,930
- State Fire Training Academy: 27 awards, $7,097,490
Estimated remaining funds are:
- Operations & Safety: $40,583,887 (20%)
- Vehicles: $27,202,089 (38%)
- State Fire Training Academy: $1,567,352 (18%)
With an average of 109 awards per round, the average award amount is:
- Operations & Safety: $116,717
- Vehicles: $252,837
- State Fire Training Academy: $262,870
