The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced the eighteenth award round for the FY2013 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) fire grants program.
FEMA awarded $9,388,168 to 68 Fire Service organizations throughout the US. Awards included:
- $3,764, Operations and Safety (Equipment), La Pointe Volunteer Fire Department, La Pointe, WI
- $19,950, Operations and Safety (Training), Polo Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Polo, MO
- $50,350, Operations and Safety (Modify Facilities), Acushnet Fire & EMS Department, Acushnet, MA
- $66,331, Operations and Safety (Personal Protective Equipment PPE, and Wellness and Fitness Programs), City of Indianola Fire Department, Indianola, MS
- $112,575, Vehicle Acquisition, South Summit Fire Protection District, Oakley, UT
- $432,000, Vehicle Acquisition, Villa Park Fire Department, Villa Park, IL
- $951,311, Operations and Safety (Equipment), Hartford Fire Department (City of Hartford), Hartford, CT
Round 18 award allocations:
- Operations & Safety: 60 awards, $7,846,190
- Vehicles: 8 awards, $1,494,481
- State Fire Training Academy: 0 awards, $0
Total FY2013 appropriations are $280,163,233: $201,717,528 for Operations & Safety fire grants, $70,040,808 for Vehicle fire grants, and $8,404,897 for State Fire Training Academy fire grants.
To-date, 1,886 fire grants totaling $252,250,683 have been awarded:
- Operations & Safety: 1,648 awards, $193,017,763
- Vehicles: 208 awards, $51,089,254
- State Fire Training Academy: 30 awards, $8,143,666
Estimated remaining funds are:
- Operations & Safety: $14,938,451 (7%)
- Vehicles: $21,117,765 (29%)
- State Fire Training Academy: $521,176 (6%)
With an average of 105 awards per round, the average award amount is:
- Operations & Safety: $117,122
- Vehicles: $245,621
- State Fire Training Academy: $271,456
