The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced the thirteenth award round for the FY2013 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) fire grants program.
FEMA awarded $11,237,166 to 95 Fire Service organizations throughout the US. Awards ranged from a $2,850 Operations and Safety Training Grant, awarded to the Fort Kent Fire Department, Fort Kent, ME, to a $664,299 Operations and Safety Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Fire Grant, awarded to the South King Fire & Rescue, Federal Way, WA.
Round 13 award allocations:
- Operations & Safety: 84 awards, $8,574,425
- Vehicles: 10 awards, $2,237,741
- State Fire Training Academy: 1 awards, $425,000
Total FY2013 appropriations are $280,163,233: $201,717,528 for Operations & Safety fire grants, $70,040,808 for Vehicle fire grants, and $8,404,897 for State Fire Training Academy fire grants.
To-date, 1,339 fire grants totaling $174,744,680 have been awarded:
- Operations & Safety: 1,174 awards, $136,249,812
- Vehicles: 145 awards, $33,201,422
- State Fire Training Academy: 20 awards, $5,293,446
Estimated remaining funds are:
- Operations & Safety: $71,706,402 (34%)
- Vehicles: $39,005,597 (54%)
- State Fire Training Academy: $3,371,396 (39%)
With 103 average awards per round, the average award is:
- Operations & Safety: $116,056
- Vehicles: $228,975
- State Fire Training Academy: $264,672
