12 departments who have worked with First Responder Grants have won a total of $758,411 in fire grants during Round 3 awards from the FY2013 Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program. These grants are administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
Awards ranged from a $12,389 Equipment fire grant, to a $209,412 Equipment fire grant. The 12 winners are either current or former First Responder Grants clients/students.
As of May 13, First Responder Grants clients and students had received 8% of the total awards given, representing 6% of the total grant funds awarded so far. Of clients who submitted applications to the AFG program, 30% have already received funding as of Round 3.
“It goes to show that good training and sound professional pre-submission application reviewing and project development has huge dividends,” says Kurt Bradley, Senior Grants Consultant at First Responder Grants.
